I just set up this new Premiere Theme from WooThemes. I would love to hear what you think of it! Note: I’m still tweaking & updating, so it’s a work in progress…

Just got your email about your new post.
Truthfully, I happened to come by earlier today. As I do a random sweep of sites every now and then. I noticed that you had activated a different skin.
My first impression was. “This is different. Not good or bad, just different.
One thing that I missed was that on the right hand side we now have topics and latest comments. I rather liked the old posts listing as I would flip back to a specific post on occasion. If that option is in the new skin I haven’t found it yet.
One thing gained is that I don’t have to remember how to spell my first name as this skin already fills in the name, email and site. Cool!
Those were the first things that I noticed. Looking forward to do some more exploring later but right now another episode of “Numbers” is calling.

A follow up or a p.p.s. – ok, I think I get it. By featuring topics it should make it easier to find a particular previous post. Great!
I guess I have become Googleized (is that a word?) to the point that I forget about assigning folders (topics) to anything anymore. LOL (oh how we get spoiled)

Thank you Gary! I am still trying to switch over old posts to the new layout, which all have to be done manually (no fun! lol). But once I get that done there will be a “Recent Posts” list in the right sidebar. I’m having a bit of trouble getting the new video post types to work like the original blog post types in the other theme – with the feed and in the sidebar, so just working that out now.

Hmm, I thought you were up to something today. I happened to drop by your video blog and noticed the ‘new look’ but the only thing on the page was the newest video, there was no comment section, and no sidebar with past videos and I was a little upset at first thinking… so how can we get to the older videos??? But then logic kicked in and I figured you were probably still working on the site.
I like the fact that it automatically filled in my name and email, etc., into the reply box so I didn’t have to do that. Personally I would prefer the “notify me of followup” box at the bottom to be defaulted to “not checked”, but it’s not a big deal.
Gray and black are two of my favorite colors so.. that’s cool. However, it can be a little harder to read, but this seems okay. It has a classy look, to me, with these colors. If it were my site and I wanted to spice it up a little the only thing I would do is add a little blue somewhere. Like a med/dark blue with that has a gray/metallic look (colors are very hard to describe) something like the facebook share button at the top maybe. I’ve found gray, maroon and that shade of blue look kind of interesting together, and the black sort of compliments it. Just my personal preference here, it’s your blog, and you’re the site design expert so, I’m sure whatever you ultimately decide to use will be just great.
I might try to make “Living my life…. outloud” in the header a slightly larger font since the small font seems almost faded into the background and a little hard to make out (or maybe it’s just my eyes going bad).

(Thinking to myself… let’s see, she spent all day on a Sunday sitting in her office redesigning her video blog site and yet she wonders why she has no social/dating life… lol.)

I’ve been feeling off all day, so just decided to distract myself with a project. There’s absolutely nothing to do in this town anyway. I was going to meet a friend for dinner but that got canceled… so just got take out and am off to watch some Netflix. Blah, lol…
I increased the font on the tagline a bit – as large as I could without it flowing over into a second line. How does it look on your end now?
Just added the “recent videos” list to the sidebar too. Though it’s not updating automatically. Still working that out as video posts aren’t treated the same as “blog posts” which is frustrating me a bit.

I love the new look Lynn ! Is it a special theme just for videos ? I have been looking for a good wp theme that is mainly for videos … It looks like it is very easy to navigate & organize …
I have been enjoying your updates … thought I would pass on a name of an awesome book you might enjoy also called “The Manual” by Steve Santagati … it is very insightful with the whole dating topic. I loved it : ) It was very eye opening to say the least … it totally shifted how I think…lol

Hey Lynn! Ken and I are vacationing back home in Florida, checking on my parents, visiting with daughter Kellie and gr/baby #3…Nathan (16 months). In between all of that, we’re hitting the beach and enjoying some really good Florida food! (I knew you’d like that part of the comment! LOL)
I like the new look very much – super classy looking, it really is. I only have 2 things that are bugging me about it. The Living my Life comment gets lost – it’s too hard to read now. Second, the “GI-GAN-TA-SO-ROUS” image on the right pulls my eyes to the right continually (even during the video) and distracts from your face. We can’t have that, can we? Your smile is too beautiful to have that degree of competition pulling us away from you!
In between all the vacationing described above, I’m also working on my website and those changes you suggested. Hopefully I’ll have them all done by the time we get back home this coming weekend.
Headed to the Gulf first thing in the morning and will be hitting my favorite ‘crepery; right on the beach. Now THAT’s a great way to start a beach day! See you in Atlanta, if not sooner.

Umm .. I’m not a fan of grey and black themes, I find them depressing. Well, you asked
So this is “okay”, I mean I’m not going to stop coming here 
but it feels bitty somehow with the three “layers” of colour and kind of blah. Maybe you need a bigger hit of colour, like more of the dark red on your optin box, to liven it up?
I agree with Sherie, that Artisteer ad is very distracting right next to the video, it pulls my eyes to the right (painful, that!
) Also I miss the list of recent videos you used to have, I really liked that feature. It made it easy to catch up if I missed a few. I’m not THAT interested in the latest comments, I’m far more interested in the latest videos.

Yes, thank you Isobel! I’ve added the Recent Videos but I’m still working out how to get it to update automatically. It’s the one thing I don’t like about this theme – the video posts don’t work like the blog posts, so they aren’t going into the feed, sidebar, etc. Rah! I’ll get it figured out yet.
Once I get the old posts updated, and some of the details worked out, I’ll be tweaking on the colors a bit. Appreciate your feedback!
I like the layout and the lack of color certainly pulls the eye right into your video but personally, I think it could use more color.
When I saw the email about the change, I expected something with bright colors, great pics in the background (like your low carb site), etc. I’m not a fan of this. I agree with Isobel about the colors and them being “depressing.” It’s just not YOU. [sorry]

I am going to tweak the colors a bit. And based on your feedback I think a big sidewide graphic header at the top of the page would work well, with photos and personality. Agree?
Yes, more color and sitewide header graphic. Maybe a red carpet type Hollywood/movie type theme.
Otherwise I absolutely love the new theme. The layout is much better! Way to go.

I have the video equipment. Just recently got my camera to talk to my Mac just needed to know how to use the software (Converted Microsoft PC user).
You know me just a “professional email reader” and a writer who doesn’t write.
More Color needed. Not a White text on a Black backgound fan. Also I seriously doubt you are actually waiting till I do my comment LOL Like the new vertical boxes in the Leave a Reply for name, email and site. Overall a good Theme change. Now if you would just get do something about the footer pop-up on Clicknewz.com(very annoying for those of us who are already subscribed).
I have deactivated that footer plugin on ClickNewz, but it still seems to be coming up – which is likely a caching issue. Working on that…
Hi Lynn, I like that you are experimenting and trying something new. For me what I see right away with this new theme is the ads (under the header and to the right of the video post). The ads are very colorful and pop against the white/greyish background.
Not sure if that is what you were going for?
I do like what you have done with the right sidebar.
Yes, that is what I was going for.
For those that find the ads distracting, just play the video full screen. Still working out the sidebar and footer elements, and crafting up ideas for a header graphic… fun!
You received plenty of good feedback over the last couple of days, so I’ll just add a little. I like the thumbnail list view on the main page, but overall the theme seems a bit more businesslike than I’d expect for a personal blog. I think I’d look for some ways to give it a more personal-looking touch. Functionally, though, I like it a lot.
