Video Blogging has been a FUN project! Open conversation about what’s next here on my Vlog…
About Lynn Terry
I'm best known online for my Internet Marketing Blog and my Low Carb Diet blog (where I also talk about my fun travel adventures). But there is SO much more to me than work, food & travel. Which is why we're here. ;-) So let your hair down and let's have some REAL fun! *cheers*
Watching personal videos is a nice break from the day to day business stuff. I’ve been watching a lot of Google Plus Hangouts and they seem to bring in both personal interaction mixed with business topics. Kind of like your Coffee Shop Chat video but with everyone in their own home/offices.
To be perfectly honest, I love these videos. Whenever you send one out I stop what I’m doing and watch it. They are delightful, refreshing, funny, sad, informative, instructional and just a perfect quick breath of fresh air.
So, my vote is to continue on…I’ll miss them if you discontinue making them.
I love both the personal and business topics you’ve covered and I appreciate how personal you’ve been at times, I’m not sure I could of shared as much as you have but know this, it’s been great seeing a different side of you, it makes me like and trust you even more. Thank you for sharing!
I like your personal video topics. I have especially enjoyed when you talk about dating and being introverted. So I’d like to see more on those topics.
This video made me think of an article I read recently about how many women lifestyle bloggers have created an image of their lives being perfect and the jealousy it can create among readers. Here’s a link to that story: http://bitchmagazine.org/article/better-homes-bloggers
What I like about your blog is that I’m able to relate to you; you’re not trying to paint yourself as perfect or as having a perfect life. You’re really vulnerable with your audience and that’s refreshing after reading the types of blogs referenced in the above article. So keep it up!
I do often wonder though if anyone in your RL has been offended or how you tell new dates that you’re a video blogger. Are you shy about telling them and letting them see your blogs?
LOL I thought seriously about dating under a pen name in the future. haha. Honestly, it’s only been less than a year, and I haven’t dated much – outside of that one relationship at the beginning of the year. I keep it pretty tame (if you only knew! heh) so it wasn’t an issue then.
I should think if I ever do find a True Love, they will accept me. Videos and all. But I could be wrong. LOL.
I had a super fun time the other day working, visiting, laughing and EATING!
About the blog theme? I liked the first one better. I’m not crazy about this one being so dark and ominous because to me it doesn’t fit you. You have a great sense of humor and are easy to be around. It’s very commercial looking and not very friendly, for lack of a better word. I think the other had a lighter feel to it which seemed more like ‘you’. More inviting, more welcoming.
About the video topics? WOW, you’ve covered a lot – personal issues, what worries you, inspires you, makes you mad, makes you happy. (We especially like to see you happy!) You’ve vlogged about silly and giggly things. Beautiful things like your grandmother and friendship and your kids and being a mom. We love watching you interact with Slim, he’s so devoted to you.
I don’t remember you vlogging much on lynnterry.tv about business though. I think it’s been more personal stuff although I would be happy seeing business stuff too. It’s ALL GOOD and I’ll be here regardless of what your topics are.
So whatever you want to share with us is fine. We just love getting a chance to have the conversation with you. You’re like a 1-a-day vitamin. We feel better after we’ve had one! LOL
I’m playing around with the theme now. I just haven’t been inspired to mess with it – but just turned it red, lol. I also removed the big slider on the main page, which I never really liked. I may mess with it a bit more before deciding to revert back to the original theme…
I love the personal stuff because I find it very inspirational. Seeing the struggles you go through and how you deal with them is helpful, as is realizing you deal with a lot of the same issues and daily crap as the rest of us. I especially enjoyed learning about the hard times in your life that you’ve overcome because from that I realize, not only how much we have in common, but also that if you can become successful online, so can I. It’s truly not rocket-science, as you’ve often said.
I enjoy getting a glimpse into the daily life of a successful Internet Marketer because these videos allow me to see exactly the kind of life success has afforded you, and I aspire to that. Knowing that you have the freedom to nap during the day, or sit on the back deck with Slim if you feel like it, even in the middle of the day when most people are working, is exactly what I want to create for myself… that level of freedom and peaceful contentment in my life.
I enjoy hearing about how your business is going or about something business-related that is a little unusual in the videos. I think in a few videos you’ve mentioned products you use and/or are an affiliate for and why and that’s cool. I wouldn’t want every video to be about a business related topic, but it’s nice when they are sprinkled in here and there. I have to say I’m not a big fan of what kind or where you buy your t-shirts, though I’m sure some people love that. Clothes just don’t matter to me and that’s just a personal thing. Dating also doesn’t interest me in the least, but it’s important to you and sometimes I enjoy following the processes you discuss on that topic, other times if I’m not interested I have the option, as with the t-shirts, to skip that video so, it’s no big deal really.
I LOVE discussing deep topics and only discovered “What the Bleep do we know” through your blog and I loved it. I have labels on everything now thanks to looking deeper into Dr. Emoto’s information. I don’t do television so it might have been years down the line before I discovered all these things. I love learning new things, especially things that are “off the beaten path”. I enjoy finding out what books you are reading, especially those that are business related.
It’s fun to see Slim now and again, too…OF COURSE!
So I guess my thoughts probably don’t help much, do they? Overall I’d say that I enjoy about 80% of the videos you post here, the rest I don’t “dislike” but am simply rather disinterested in. You aren’t holding a gun to our heads to watch, so it’s no big deal. The benefits (videos I enjoy) far outweigh the negatives (videos I am ambivalent about).
I’d love to see more on here about your personal life, but am not sure I’d share that if I were in your shoes, so that’s fine. I’d love to know more about the challenges you face now, and have faced in the past, in regards to business, and how you manage/d to rise to the challenge… or not. I think there is always something to be learned from a challenge and what better way than to learn from someone ELSE’S challenges
One thing I do wish you would change though… is the frequency of the videos. Two or three a week, at least, would be nice. It IS quite like chatting with a good friend and that, to me, is always fun.
I really love your stories and videos, the personal ones as well as those about business. There wasn’t a boring one so far and that part about laughing till you pee your pants makes me very curious
But the most important thing is that you’re having fun and enjoying yourself doing these videos. Because that shines through and makes them fun to watch.
I love watching your videos and enjoy whatever you choose to share. It’s really up to you about how much to share. Can’t say this is my favorite theme (grey background) but then again I don’t always watch your videos from this site.
Lynn, please continue to share whatever topics you feel comfortable with. I’ve enjoyed every video. I also usually stop and watch as soon as I see the message that you’ve posted a new video.
It’s lonely during the day here and, although I would never presume to be a friend, I enjoy your talks as if I did have a friend to chat with.
Thanks for both the fun and thought provoking videos in the past. And good luck with what you decide for the future!
Great video! Are you trying to tell us that it’s been almost a year since you launched your vlog? How time flies when you are having fun…
I agree about the color grey being drab and adding some brighter colors might be nice. Primary colors are usually a great choice with white background and black font.
I think I figured out the other stuff so it’s all good now.
I like what you have done and it has been “great” in my humble opinion. I hope you continue. All of your videos have been interesting and easy to relate to. From on your knees in the airport terminal to walking Slim in the park to speeding down the Interstate and even breakfast by the river. All great! Thanks!
Of course I am interested in what you watch, read, and listen to and how your writing is coming along. What inspires you and what doesn’t. Also interested in the arts and your creative side. SEO and Copy writing are of interest and I LOVE being part of Karon’s group. Thanks for recommending her.
I think my favorite videos that you have posted are when you are opening your mail. The surprises and the comments, both what you read and that you make. LOL!
I hope you are having an AWESOME day thinking about your OLL vs your IRL!
smiles,
p.s. so I’m off to watch a couple of episodes of SG1 and off to bed…night!
Thank you so much for the feedback. Very helpful! And yes, Gary – it’s been almost a year. Hard to believe! I started this vlog back in November 2011 (if I’m remembering correctly).
I like the red color and getting rid of the slider thingy. I agree with you to try tweaking this skin before tossing it.
Maybe try to focus on keeping it as simple as possible while keeping the parts that your readers want, use and need…When it just works you will know that you got it right.
Someone once said it’s NOT what you add but rather what you take OUT that makes it better.
I hope you are having an AWSOME day of not making it bigger, just better!
Lynn, I am new to your site but have found you terribly interesting and engaging. I discovered your website during a Google search on doing product reviews (which I am using by the way…thanks!).
I think the perfect topic mixture of personal and business is simply bliss. From what I have thus far been exposed to, you have the ability to captivate, engage, and motivate your audience. I am looking forward to whatever you feel most comfortable sharing with us.
From one introvert to another, I wish you all the best!
Hi Lynn, Would love to hear about how working at home is a plus or negative in the dating world and the experiences that you have had… I myself find it hard to meet people working from home. How do you feel about the internet dating sites. Have you ever tried them? I myself have negative experiences with them! So would love to hear your thoughts on all of this
LOL I could do a whole series on dating sites alone. Yes, I’ve tried them – and tons of negative (hilarious!) experiences. haha. Good topic. I’ll have to do a video on that one.
If people get “offended” or take things too personal, tell them to take a “grown up pill” and get over it. (No one is forcing them to watch!) And, if they can’t, then maybe you need to tell them to shove off!
Unless what you say is (a) really hampering your ability to find a mate, and/or (b) interferring with your business, then continue on as you have been.
A few people HAVE gotten over it – or gotten over me, LOL. I actually enjoy having a space where I can just freestyle it on any topic I please. I think the more comfortable I get with it, the more open I’ll be.
Really appreciate this open discussion as it has renewed my enthusiasm about vlogging.
Anytime you open yourself up, you open up to the potential of having things come back and bite you. I know I have been bitten by some of the things I’ve openly shared, but I felt at the time (and still do) that what I shared was relevant to the topic at hand and provided some insights.
This is only the second video I’ve seen, so I can’t give any kind of comment on what you’ve shared prior, however the rule of thumb is: “Don’t share what you don’t mind complete strangers knowing.”
Not to be confused with those of us who are just strange.
Since this is more of a personal blog, I think the theme should reflect more about you. Pictures of things you like, like flowers and pistachios, or ice cream and chocolate milk. Maybe I shouldn’t write when I’m hungry.
I’ll be honest – some of your personal stories make me sit up at attention (I could never reveal as much as you do), some of your stories make me cry, and the rest all have their little space in my heart.
I think your videos are endearing. They show me what type of gal you really are and frankly, you’re my kind of people.
I wouldn’t steer away from the personal videos as I enjoy coming here and watching them. I don’t always respond (in writing), but you do get reactions from this end of the monitor. Some good, some gasping, but all are enjoyable.
Lynn, Love your vlog and what makes it great is that you do keep it interesting by talking about different topics. Love you talking about your life it makes it more real and believe me what keeps people feeling like they can relate. Don’t change.. I have learned alot from you..
I vote for the more personal Side of you, and of course as always you decide what is personal.
Watching personal videos is a nice break from the day to day business stuff. I’ve been watching a lot of Google Plus Hangouts and they seem to bring in both personal interaction mixed with business topics. Kind of like your Coffee Shop Chat video but with everyone in their own home/offices.

Lynn, Love your vlog and what makes it great is that you do keep it interesting by talking about different topics. Love you talking about your life it makes it more real and believe me what keeps people feeling like they can relate.
Don’t change.. I have learned alot from you..
Thank you, Kelly!
