Congrats, Lynn! I love it when you say you’re going to do things because you enjoy them.

I’ve been more and more attracted to the goal-less lifestyle myself and I did read Leo Babuta’s Effortless Life some time ago. I’ve also been a goal maker, but with less success as you…

I’m actively thinking at the moment what I’m going to do and not do in 2012, even though I haven’t set any actual goals.

My two words for year 2012 – “Flow Laboratory” :-)

    • Lynn Terry December 29, 2011 at 8:16 am #

Alright, you’re going to have to explain those two words. ;-)

My goal is to clear the clutter in all areas of life/home/business and make it a successful year!

So my saying is “clear the clutter”

Sweet – you’re going to LOVE my video tomorrow ;-) LOL

My word is trust. Trust that life will happen as it’s supposed to happen without my all my striving, pushing planning and worrying. As an overachiever and success driven person this idea of trusting is my biggest challenge.

I wonder if it’s possible to overachieve in trusting life  Or is that an oxymoron? My new mantra is: “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans”

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Lynn I very much resonate with what you are saying.

    Suzy

LOL we sound very much alike, Suzy ;-) haha

Mine is very much like Angie’s, but, I’m going with “organized”. I’m reading about my ADD, going to talk to my doc about some med changes/additions, clean out and organize this office and my business….and absolutely, like Angie – it concerns ALL areas of my life. I’m tired of living in this ADD Tornado.

    • Lynn Terry December 29, 2011 at 10:00 am #

We can organize together! :D I have tons left here to do still too – and I’ll be doing it all on video with you guys. ;-)

Very cool, I have felt guilty over the years because I don’t have goals or make resolutions, I accomplish a lot but just what and when I want. My word for 2012 would have to be peace, I am a bit of a control freak and there seems to be so much in my life in the last 10 years that were so out of my control and I just want to have peace with those things and learn to enjoy my life.

    • Lynn Terry December 30, 2011 at 8:11 am #

Just enjoy life. That sounds great. I can relate to that one – even if I have approached things opposite as you (with goal setting). I’m big on “living in the moment” and that does serve me well, but I just want to take time to *breathe* and do more things I truly ENJOY – not just things on the list…

My words for 2012 are HAPPINESS IS…

I too have been struggling with being happy so I decided to start a blog and tweet about what HAPPINESS IS to me every day. I often find multiple things to tweet about every day and plan on expanding the blog as well.

It’s also amazing to see how focusing on what HAPPINESS IS to me has already made a difference in my life although I just started about a week ago.

    • Lynn Terry December 30, 2011 at 8:12 am #

What a cool project! I wrote a post on “happiness” and well-being in general awhile back, after reading a book on the topic (a boring, dry book – lol). The post is http://www.clicknewz.com/2650/ if you’re interested.

I think that’s great that you are at a point in your life that you can just relax a bit and let things happen! Unfortunately, I’m still in the GO girl stage lol. Push, push, push higher :)

    • Lynn Terry December 30, 2011 at 8:13 am #

Push away! ;-) It worked for me for many years, and it worked WELL. I’m just ready to take a personal break – mainly to recover from some big personal disappointments, and just be kind to myself for awhile. Because nobody else is going to do it for me. :P haha

“SHARE” – is my word for 2012! :)

This year I want to share with others. For the past nine years I have been researching and applying ways to rebuild my life, (my new normal) so I want to share with others what I have learned so that they can use what I have learned to rebuild their lives too.

I have some other projects that will be happening in 2012 but sharing is my focus for the year. :D

I wish you awesome success with your happiness project for 2012!

    smiles :)

    p. s. I love your measuring stick of “will this take me too or from the place where I want to be” Thanks! :) .

    • Lynn Terry December 30, 2011 at 8:14 am #

Very cool, Gary! I assume you have a list of ways you want to share, specifically? It should be a fun year for you!

      • Gary December 30, 2011 at 11:16 am #

Actually, I do. Interesting that you mentioned Leo and his methods.

I bought his book “The Effortless Life” and found that a lot of what he is talking about fits well with where I am in my life.

Moving SLOW, noticing the now and drawing closer to friends and family. Doing FUN projects (things that you LOVE) rather than the traditional Goal treadmill to find that place in your life that you LOVE.

        Have a GREAT year!!! :D

My word or words for 2012 are, “Get out of my comfort zone” This is the year I make myself visible and stop hiding. I’m such an introvert, its time to stop being this way. My business will never grow otherwise.
    Thanks Lynn for sharing!

    • Lynn Terry December 30, 2011 at 8:15 am #

I totally get that, Tina. I’m an introvert as well. I used to be incredibly shy (and insecure) as well, but finally got over that hump starting in my early 30′s. Which helped A LOT.

Once you step out, and start receiving positive results & feedback, it will make a big difference – it’ll put you on a roll. ;-)

  10. Val B December 30, 2011 at 7:36 am #

“Whole” – I may be crazy, but this year is about changing ALL the areas of my life that are not serving me well. From diet and exercise to productivity, I’m getting a makeover…. This year I have Life Resolutions, so maybe next year I won’t need any resolutions at all! Seriously, the reason I’m saying “whole” is that too often I focus on ONE thing and lose some of the balance that I need in my life.

Lynn, here’s to your happiness in 2012 and beyond. You make a difference in the lives of many people, myself included. Thanks!

    • Lynn Terry December 30, 2011 at 8:17 am #

      Thank you Val :D

That was very close to my own thoughts & goals the last two years. I started exercising, changed my diet, lost weight, adopted a dog, ditched negative friends, worked hard at creating positive new relationships, changed some things in my business, etc etc etc. It was a huge undertaking, but incredibly gratifying to see so many positive changes in my life in such a short period of time!

  11. Tricia December 30, 2011 at 7:45 am #

I think it is a great idea that you are not making any resolutions. I am praying that next year I will be able to do that.

I am working on stepping out of my comfort zone but not quite that far yet.

    Thanks Lynn..

    • Lynn Terry December 30, 2011 at 8:18 am #

What kinds of things will you do to step out of your comfort zone this year? You have me curious. :)

  12. Kari December 30, 2011 at 9:25 am #

My word for 2012 is “change”. I have been, not unhappy exactly, but dissatisfied. with my life for a while now. This year I want to make some significant changes in almost all areas of my life. I have been spending a good deal of time laying out just what I want all areas of my life to look like.
I am borrowing a version of your mantra this year, “Does this bring me closer to what I want?”

    • Lynn Terry December 30, 2011 at 9:29 am #

That has worked so well for me…

Getting that vision, a very clear picture, is the most important part. I can close my eyes and SEE the me I want to be…

    Hey Lynn,

Belated Happy New Year to you.

Refreshing to hear you talk about goals in this way. I’m a great believer in life not being a rehearsal (this is a contributing factor… http://bit.ly/oJbbej)

My goal (and my wife’s) is “Making life easier” this year… 2 children, 2 full time jobs, mixed with life = tricky at times. We’ve already made progress!

    Good luck for 2012.

    Mark

  14. Lynn Terry January 10, 2012 at 6:15 am #

Happy New Year to you Mark! :D

I love your goal for the year. Awesome! And I just scanned your post, can’t wait to go back and read it in detail over my morning coffee. ;-) *cheers*
