    WOW! good one,
I would go back to the late ninties, at the time my father just hooked up to the internet with his new 486 HP (dinosaur). That I later purchased from him. Anyway I will never forget his excitment and telling me that this internet and more spacificly these domain names are like the old land rush days. To get all I can, or just get involved. Did I? NO!! Not for a long time… But I am here now.

Ahh good one, Ron ;-) I could have given myself some serious business tips too, but that would be cheating lol. GOOD cheating, but still cheating. haha

I remember my 486 DX-50 Packard Bell with such fondness…

Now haven’t we all though about this one?!

I would go back and go into construction with my father. I did learn a bit from him, but could have learned so much more.

Together I’m sure we could have built a business that would be successful, and I would have been able to spend so much more time with him. (He’s retired now living in Florida and I’m in New York – we don’t get to see family often enough.)

I have to really think about what I would’ve said to a 10-year-younger me. Something about taking it easier probably..

I absolutely *love* the hoodie you’re wearing! What is it? :-)

    • Lynn Terry January 16, 2012 at 8:21 am #

LOL it’s seriously old, faded, and seen better days. Just a blue hooded top with a drawstring. I ended up throwing it in the trash after I wore it all day Saturday. :P It’s been one of my favorite comfies for years though, lol.

  4. Sherie January 16, 2012 at 9:05 am #

Easy one – “Be bold, be confident, don’t hold back, just go for it!”

I spent the majority of my younger and most productive years being afraid to make a wrong decision. So, often I made NO decision and opportunities passed by. I was afraid to ‘blow it’…instead of saying, ‘Hey, what’s the worst that could happen? JUST TRY!”

Although I’m much more willing to step out of my comfort zone now and take a chance, this Libra finds herself always analyzing. Maybe my true calling was as a GPS! LOL

    • Lynn Terry January 16, 2012 at 9:21 am #

LOL Sherie :D I can relate to that. I was very timid up until my early 30′s. I wish I had been more the type to take life by the horns earlier on… but something feels really good about having my past experiences under my belt, and just now hitting my stride at this age. :) I’m not sure I was well enough equipped (emotionally, mentally, etc) to have done then what I’m doing now…

    Hey Lynn,

It is a GREAT question! i know for me I am usually to much centered in the future and not enough in the past. LOL

I guess I am a trend follower and I often have people say to me “you told me that was going to happen but I thought you were being a little off the wall so I didn’t believe you, but it did happen”

Gee, going back 10 years 2002 was the year of my stroke. 20 years 1992 was the year I packed in my career job and we moved to a different place, job and 3 years later separation. 30 years 1982 was the year of a huge snow storm and the beginning of being a Community Emergency Operations volunteer for over 20 years We were married with no children. 40 years 1972, I was a young single military guy serving as an Air Traffic Controller on a base near Halifax Canada. You know, if I could go back and have a coffee with any of those guys I am not so sure that things would have turned out so much different.

It is kinda interesting to think about though. An interesting sidebar is the fact that my girlfriend from the late 60′s is now a friend on Facebook. She is happily married with a family. It IS interesting to look at life as a river of time. Past is now clearly charted, present is being charted as we speak and the future. The future is a mist that we paddle into with anticipation. (I just hope the mist is NOT coming from the falls) LOL

I hope that you are having an AWESOME day!

    smiles :)

Sometimes looking back is a great way to get grounded for moving forward :D Enjoyed your story!

Would have not cashed in my 1st 401K, would have signed up for the 2nd 401K which I never did. Lastly would have payed my SS taxes which as a 1099′R I didn’t( far as I know no legal requirement to do so)

  7. Robert Nelson January 16, 2012 at 2:41 pm #

The last 10 years of my working life I was a full time employee making 35K+, got three weeks vacation, etc and is the only reason my SS is survivable

  8. L.M. January 16, 2012 at 3:38 pm #

The skirt is actually kind of cute… in a Debbie Gibsonish sort of way.

    • Lynn Terry January 16, 2012 at 5:21 pm #

LOL yeah, and hey – I can still fit in it after all these years. Or “again” I should say. :D haha

      • L.M. January 16, 2012 at 5:52 pm #

That in of itself makes it worth keeping and putting into the Hope chest.

  9. Karen D. January 16, 2012 at 5:34 pm #

It’s a good thing that I was not drinking anything when you held up that skirt. It made me laugh out loud, and guffaw, for a fair length of time. :-D

It really cracked me up for many reasons. Yes, it was an ill-advised choice, but again, you are not alone.

There have been many, many things in my wardrobe, and might be some packed away right now, that make me wonder why on Earth I ever bought them, let alone wore them.

Most definitely put it in your hope chest.

As for what I would tell a former version of myself? Like you, I do believe that our experiences make us who we are today, and that is priceless.

There are, however, a few pivotal points where I might go back to warn myself of certain dangers to avoid, other big things I should have done differently, etc.

Giving my former self a big hug, and saying everything will be okay, is something I’ve also thought about doing, if possible, perhaps more than the above.

On a larger scale than day-to-day, time to me is not at all linear. I see it as simultaneous, overlapping, and so on.

Excellent question, and one I’ve thought of many times. It comes up often in my daily meditations, when I’m doing the dishes, and other times like these.

Another great topic here. Thanks. :-)

    • Lynn Terry January 16, 2012 at 5:44 pm #

(just between you and I, time does not exist. if you traveled faster than the speed of light, you could fly to the moon and wave back at yourself. you might enjoy my post on ClickNewz today ;-) – )

      • Karen D. January 16, 2012 at 6:37 pm #

We are on the same page.

My meditation on New Year’s Day was about how time is an illusion. I thought it an appropriate way to begin a new year. ;-)

“What the Bleep Do We Know?” is one of my favorite movies, and I have owned a copy since I saw it in theaters when it first came out.

I also do daily a “Create My Day” segment in my meditations.

Favorite reading topics (and books) are on Tibetan Buddhism and quantum physics, as there is a definite connection in them in certain ways.

I have not read the Dispenza book you mention, but I will check it out.

Also have a copy of Emoto’s “The Hidden Messages in Water.” For years, I wrote words on water containers, and recently started doing it again.

Will reply more about this over on Clicknewz.

Thanks for the alert, as I’m a bit behind today in your posts over there.

        Another great topic. :-D

        • Lynn Terry January 16, 2012 at 7:21 pm #

Agree! Cool that we have that interest in common. I would like to study Emoto’s work more to see if it resonates. I found him interesting. But it was Joe that really captured and kept my attention. Great reviews on Amazon too, so I’m looking forward to a good read!

          • Karen D. January 17, 2012 at 6:06 am #

Joe Dispenza’s part in the movie is one of the most popular, and it is something I incorporate into my daily routine.

Here is a link to his direct quote from the movie where he talks about creating his day:

            http://www.whatthebleep.com/create/

As for Emoto’s work, I can’t argue with him about the power of words in all cases.

Regarding the effects of words on water, we humans are mostly water, living on a water planet, so I do think he is on to something.

Yes, it is a pleasure to talk to you about this subject. :-)

When you brought up the idea of what one can do in 16 minutes, I had thought about posting something there about creating my day, but had not gotten around to it, and then it came up on this post in a roundabout way. :-)

Glad you brought it up, and I hope you enjoy Dispenza’s latest book.

It should be here today – I cannot wait to dive in! :D

  10. Biljana January 17, 2012 at 7:14 am #

I can’t tell you how surprised I am to hear my name lol (well, the American version of my name :) )!

A few years ago, you posted something on your blog that resonated with me: http://www.clicknewz.com/1255/you-are-exactly-where-you-want-to-be/ (this is my favorite post by you).

“I look back at the woman I was 7 years ago, and my heart goes out to her. I wish I could go back in time and tell her to hold her head high and stay the course. That all would work out thanks to her determination. Not to worry, and not to doubt, but to just keep going.” – This is your quote and I often think of it at times when I feel I need reassurance. Awesome!

    • Lynn Terry January 18, 2012 at 7:59 am #

I remember that well. I looked it up just the other day myself. I often think back and remember younger versions of me, and wish she knew everything would turn out fine. But at the same time, I know that it was the not knowing (the doubt, the fear, the frustration) that really drove me to prove it and to *make* it happen…

I hope I got your name somewhere near right. LOL. :D Thanks for the great question!!

      • Karen D. January 18, 2012 at 8:30 pm #

Thanks for the question, Biljana, and for the older link. :-)

It ties in well to this recent one:

        http://www.clicknewz.com/3201/creating-your-life/#more-3201

Lynn, excellent topics, issues, and food for thought on all of them.

Reassurance seems to be a thread here for our past (present, and future) selves.

Even the strongest of us needs that pat on the back, or hug, and hearing someone say “Everything will be okay.”

Goodness Lynn, not only are you making me have to address this on my blog but now I have to think about whether I want to do it as a video or not. I just hit my 10th year in business for myself last June so I’m sure my response will be somewhat different than yours. Great job; thanks for making me think.

    • Lynn Terry January 22, 2012 at 8:25 pm #

Be sure to come back and share the link when the post goes live. I can’t wait to see your response! :D

      • Mitch Mitchell January 22, 2012 at 8:36 pm #

My entire post goes live tomorrow, but the video has already been uploaded: http://youtu.be/D8vz5RmnWIA

        • Lynn Terry January 25, 2012 at 5:02 pm #

Ahhh great advice, Mitch, on spending more time with your family. :) I like your tips too on how you would have started & structured your business and websites differently. Good advice.
